Over the next few weeks, we will be evaluating picture books from 2016 and choosing our favorite. It will be fun to compare our Pondecott winner with the actual Caldecott winner which will be announced later this month.

Our honor books were also wonderful. Great choices this year, second graders.
Our winner is Ida, Always. This book is illustrated by Charles Santoso. Click here to visit his website. This book is based on a true story about two Central Park Zoo polar bears. Click here to watch a video of Gus.

Working Dogs

After researching different breeds of dogs to learn about their "jobs", we will have fun with a read aloud about a girl who has too many pets and does not know what to do.
