Farm Animals - Chickens

The kindergartners are going on a field trip to the farm so we'll be learning about chickens this week. After we read our story, the students will access a nonfiction book on chickens to learn some facts about this quirky birds. Each fact we find will add a feather to our chicken.

American Symbols - Mount Rushmore
After learning about American symbols, we explored Mount Rushmore through books and an online tour. Then the kindergartners pondered the question: If another Mount Rushmore were to be carved, who do you think should have his or her face on the mountain? Stay tuned for our responses.

We are discussing the differences between fiction and nonfiction books in the library. The features we are learning about in nonfiction are: Title Page, Table of Contents, Photographs, Maps, Diagrams and Index. Enjoy searching for these features in the library books your child brings home.
